This service is geared towards the Do-It-Yourself homeowner who wishes to install their own plant material but wants a section of their yard spruced up, or wants professional landscape ideas for a small area.  

Process:

Call our office to set up your Office Consultation.  Once your appointment is scheduled, you will receive a copy of both our Landscape Design Questionnaire and Site Conditions Questionnaire. These forms are available below and can be downloaded and printed from our website.

The following required items are due back to the office prior to your scheduled appointment.  It is important to complete the questionnaires and provide accurate measurements.  This will allow our designer to better understand the scope of your project prior to arrival.  These items can be sent back via email, fax, or dropped off at the store: 

• Measurements of the area
• Pictures of the area
• Completed Landscape Design Questionnaire
• Completed Site Conditions Questionnaire

During your office consultation, one of our designers will listen to your ideas and needs and will help plan a small area.  A small area is considered a small perennial garden, foundation planting, or a small garden.  Up to 500 sq. ft. can be covered in one appointment.  However, multiple appointments can be scheduled if you wish to do multiple areas.  At the conclusion of the consultation, you will receive a hand drawn (not to scale) plan including a list of all major plants discussed, any notes taken during the consultation, and plant care guides.

It is important to note that the more detail you can give us in measurements, pictures, and the completed questionnaires, the more our designer will be able to give in regard to plant selection and work to be done to craft a landscape that you desire.  If there is a certain look that you are trying to achieve, bring pictures of this look to your consultation as well (this is not required).

A quote for the plants discussed during the office consultation will be sent out in 3-5 days after the consultation.  An additional quote to have your plan professionally installed by Preston Greenhouse can be provided 3-5 days after request.

*Additional consultation time beyond 75 minutes will be billed at $95 an hour in 15-minute increments

This service is best suited for customers who wish to professionally landscape one or more areas of their property.  Our design department will work with you from start to finish, crafting the landscape of your dreams.  Since each person and area is unique, our design team will blend your ideas, area characteristics, and budget constraints, with our creative concepts to orchestrate a landscape plan that is unique to you.  Customer satisfaction throughout the landscape design process is our goal.

A professional landscape design can do more than just increase the beauty of your property.  Consider the following:

• A carefully planned landscape can increase the resale value of your home.
• Properly located trees can cut your heating and cooling energy consumption.
• Landscaping can help overcome problems in your yard such as steep banks, shady wet areas, unpleasant views, and noise and light from the street.
• Beautiful gardens can provide serenity and relaxation for years to come.

Process:

Call our office manager Pat at Ext. 10 to set up your Landscape Design Plan Consultation.  Once your appointment is scheduled, you will receive a copy of both our Landscape Design Questionnaire and Site Conditions Questionnaire.  These forms are available below and can be downloaded and printed from our website.

These questionnaires are required for all Landscape Design Plans.  Complete these questionnaires and return them to the office prior to your scheduled appointment.  It is important to fill these out as completely as possible.  This will allow our designer to better understand the scope of your project prior to arrival.  These items can be sent back via email, fax, or dropped off at the store.

On the day of your scheduled consultation, our designer will meet with you at your site to discuss  needs, expectations, and budget in regards to the project.

A comprehensive plan is then developed by the designer, including a computerized, scaled drawing in aerial view.  This plan is then reviewed with the designer at the landscape office for up to 60 minutes.* Once all revisions are made you will be given a Landscape Design Packet which will include a rendered copy of the plan, a plant list of all the major plants used in the design, a care guide for the plants, and an itemized estimate detailing all of the costs to implement any or all phases of the design.   Our seasoned landscape construction crews can then install your landscape project according to the plan.

Pricing:

The Landscape Design Plan Consultation fee of $95, including any travel charges to Zone 3 or above, is due at the time of scheduling your appointment**.  During this 60 minute consultation, the designer will meet with you on site to discuss your needs, expectations, and budget in regards to the project.

At the end of your consultation, the designer will quote you a price for the design of your unique project depending on the number or areas talked about during the consultation.  This amount is due before any design work can be started (can be paid at the end of consultation).

Pricing for a landscape design plan will vary depending on the number of areas to be landscaped in your project.  We classify an area as a property line planting, garden planting, or a foundation planting. We recommend you take a look at what you would like to accomplish along with the definitions below to become familiar with the number of areas of your project.

Property Line Planting:  A property line is the invisible border between lots.  This type of planting can be used as a natural screen or just as a defining line for the property.  A property line planting does not have to be a formal hedge but will generally consist of shrubs, evergreens, trees, and border perennials.    (Up to 500 square feet of space would be considered one property line planting.)

Garden Planting:  A garden planting can be a stand-alone planting area.  Generally, a garden is an area that is more complex and is used to accomplish a certain goal or feature certain themes.  Examples of this would be a perennial garden, butterfly garden, an herb and vegetable garden, or a rock garden.  (Up to 350 square feet would be considered for one garden planting.)

Foundation Planting:  A foundation planting is any planting next to a structure such as a house, garage, patio, deck, pool or walkway.  These plantings are used to blend a structure with its setting.  (Up to 500 square feet of space would be considered for one foundation planting.)
